I didn't see the benchy thread. Is this heavy like other ceramics? I love the feel compared to plastic. What machine was this from? It just looks like a regular SLA print in the picture, which is pretty impressive if it is ceramic! Is it a cast?

It‘s about 65mm tall & weighs 25g, so yeah it‘s kinda heavy for its size. But that‘s typical for aluminium oxide (corundum).

It was made on a Lithoz CeraFab S65

It‘s a process called LCM which is pretty similar to regular SLA resin printing. So the ceramic particles are dissolved in a resin, which hardens when lit with blue light trapping the ceramic particles in it. After it has been printed, you clean off the excess slurry & burn off the resin in a special oven and sinter the ceramic particles together. So only the ceramic remains. The extremely smooth surface comes from the tiny layer heights (about 25 micrometers or 0.025mm) which this print was made with.

very cool. I'll take two of those machines please.

Just to warn you, they’re a bit pricy for home use though 👀. But I like the spirit

Wow so beautiful. What’s it like to print with?

This particular blend of slurry is a bit of a pain in the butt because it can‘t really do a decent amount of bridging & it‘s really sticky. But if you‘ve worked with this technology for some time, you‘ll get the hang of it ;)

Don't you mean "dark knigt"?

Isn‘t „Batman the Dark Knight“ spelled like that?

I just thought you were getting rid of all "H"s from the Bency title

My bad, that typo is from using my phone without autocorrect instead of a PC…

😂 sorry dude, I was just joking around the whole time. I didn't mean to be a dick, I thought you would have understood after the first post. Sorry, the Internet sucks.

All good man 😂. I generally don‘t get these kind of jokes, when I read them instead of hearing

Process video maybe?)

Not from this particular print, but it shows the LCM-process:
