It looks like Ford didn't even hit the brakes

146

u/BornAgainForeskin Aug 11 '22

If the Ford stops it'll never start up again.

8

u/AtomicPickles92 Aug 11 '22

Like a crepe shark

39

u/artcomets Aug 11 '22

Doesn't have any

4

u/Alarmedhoice Aug 11 '22

The safety features like stronger brakes.

4

u/Calm_Tale1111 Aug 11 '22

Yeah cannot see the rear brake lights being on.

5

u/CrazyStuntsMan Aug 11 '22

Looks like ford wants the mustang’s traits to be moved onto other models

244

u/xjckxrndmxmnkxjstrx Aug 11 '22 Wholesome

Honestly, audi lost me when they took my ability run over childern. As an America, Ford is finally satisfying my need for freedom to choose whether or not I run over kids in the street. Audi should be ashamed for pretending to know God plans.

36

u/DanGleeballs Aug 11 '22

Perhaps there should be an amendment to the constitution for this. The right to not bear down on the brakes.

13

u/Avieshek Aug 11 '22

I know this is sarcasm but in this world at this era, if this was facebook - I would be very much confused whether to take this seriously or fondly.

11

u/Onikeys Aug 11 '22

well, You gonna have to gun them down like anyone else in your country

10

u/Bahamabanana Aug 11 '22

I mean, of course I don't want to run over the kids, that'd be sick... I just want the possibility

7

u/machoel Aug 12 '22

Sending thoughts and prayers is scientifically proven to be more effective than interfering with our brakes

2

u/hrodvitnirJC Aug 11 '22

You should move to Japan and start driving an white truck

120

u/Popthecoin Aug 11 '22

Also Tesla has the same issue lol

160

u/tangre79 Aug 11 '22

Tesla has issues with everything yet their fanbase will always follow them religiously.

79

u/Popthecoin Aug 11 '22 edited Aug 12 '22

Sounds like the same thing with apple iPhone.

14

u/tangre79 Aug 11 '22

Pretty much. A lot of big name brands, really. Even brands like Lexus and BMW have been slipping over the years.

17

u/movingaxis Aug 11 '22

BMW gonna charge subscription for heated seats etc. Gonna be interesting how affects brand loyalty.

3

u/tangre79 Aug 11 '22

The funny thing is I don't think it will. I think people would rather have the car with no equipment than not have the car at all. They just want that little logo on the hood.

5

u/movingaxis Aug 11 '22

Yeah it's the status of it. Affording subscriptions for your car will be normalized and another status tier.

3

u/Popthecoin Aug 11 '22

Then E.A will create micro transactions for people to buy loot boxes to get the features they want.

1

u/DexterLaur Yo what? Aug 11 '22

my man your the first person i see on reddit that understand norms. (tesla, lambo, bmw, merc, porsche, apple, nike...)

1

u/SpectacularSophistry Aug 12 '22

The weird thing is that they have the equipment built in. You just have to pay extra to have the software activate it. I guess bmw saves by having all the cars coming off the line with the same setup. But it seems stupid to put a headed seat in a car that will never be bought by the customer/used. Just one small example of how we’re doomed with overconsumption

5

u/Another_New_Day Aug 11 '22

If putting the shittiest kind of brittle plastic all over the car didn't shake their loyalty, the fact the seat heater comes pre-broken won't.

1

u/V_es Aug 11 '22

*is currently charging

1

u/Merry_Dankmas Aug 11 '22

Just one more reason for me to never own a BMW. I avoid German cars like the plague in general but BMW knocked itself lower than it already was with that decision.

1

u/gigashadowwolf Aug 11 '22

So far they have only announced plans to do this in the UK and have specifically stated they don't currently plan on doing this anywhere else.

Still, they are clearly testing the waters and will do it globally if it doesn't backfire on them.

1

u/machoel Aug 12 '22

Credit card declined? Turning on ac 😂

-1

u/Mochi-Galaxy Aug 11 '22

Every company is cutting corners

5

u/tangre79 Aug 11 '22

But the "prestigious" names are still getting away with highway robbery because they know people will still pay the money to get the special logo, and that's what astounds me.

2

u/caitcoffin Aug 12 '22

I thought you meant apples like fruit. I sat here for almost a full minute trying to figure out what was so problematic about apples.

1

u/Popthecoin Aug 12 '22

I guess a person can understand a sentence the way they want to. I thought it was obvious since cars where being talked about. I will add iPhone next to apple.

1

u/chumbano Aug 12 '22

Iphones get a lot of things right though. Longer support schedule, better privacy controls, and better qc on their app store.

Long time android user here. Just adult enough to acknowledge when something does something right

0

u/Twiottle Aug 11 '22

It's more about the available options. Tesla is the only electric car that is easier to get right now. The others have waiting lists on their EVs. They were also first, so that gives them a bit of an edge. Once the other companies are able to handle the EV demand, there will most likely be more people praising other EVs.

4

u/EpitomeOfPanic Aug 11 '22

A Tesla would have accelerated

5

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '22

IIHS has tested Tesla's system and it scored considerably better, as well as NCAP. This is just false narrative at this point

1

u/Popthecoin Aug 12 '22

Then is their a video showing this test?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '22

See 3:34 Under Active safety

-1

u/rusty1468 Aug 12 '22

The Tesla video yammed the fuck outta the dummy lol

59

u/Cunder__Thunt Aug 11 '22

Volvo had 2 of their early auto braking system demonstrations go almost comedically wrong.

In 2010, the test car plowed into the back of the truck it was supposed to avoid. The cars battery was nearly dead and the system didn't activate.

And in 2015, they thought it'd be a good idea to demonstrate the system with ACTUAL pedestrians. Once again, the car failed to brake, and struck 2 men (they were fine, just bruises). Volvo claimed human error, it's speculated that the system wasn't turned on.

36

u/tangre79 Aug 11 '22 edited Aug 11 '22

Also Mercedes plowed a $100k S Class into another car during a demonstration, in the fog yet so the people, not test dummies, inside the car couldn't see what was coming until they slammed into it. But in that particular case I think they forgot to turn the system on too.

2

u/Tsu_Dho_Namh Aug 12 '22

Sounds like the real system they should be showing off is their on switch.

"Marvel at our impressive 2 state toggle switch, capable of activating life saving systems that are otherwise completely useless."

1

u/tangre79 Aug 12 '22

That actually sounds like something Mercedes Benz would hold a detailed demonstration of

12

u/Meteorlink Aug 11 '22

well it was human error, some idiot decided to put people in front of a a car test, most people would call that an error.

1

u/Goyteamsix Aug 11 '22

Didn't they also run the car into an executive as well?

3

u/Cunder__Thunt Aug 11 '22

The men that the car hit were thought to be employees/executives. Volvo said they weren't.

34

u/godisawoman420 Aug 11 '22

Kid wasn’t built Ford tough.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '22

Lesson of the day: Buy a Ford, and help regulate population growth.

1

u/hellothereoldben Aug 12 '22

at that point take out the middle man and kill pregnant women. Families will often try again if they lose a kid, why risk losing your progress if you could spawnkill the vermin.

7

u/Centralcaproductions Aug 11 '22

I feel bad for the child who had to do this rip

5

u/Opposite-Two9412 Aug 11 '22

10 points for ford

0

u/Bale626 Aug 11 '22

u/Socrayytees Aug 11 '22

Ford thinks of the future, it believes in decreasing the population to help the planet survive

3

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '22

Yeah but the Ford driver gets extra points.

3

u/ClarkK24 Aug 11 '22

German engineering vs American engineering

3

u/RestInPupperonis Aug 11 '22

2

u/Psychological-Unit82 Aug 11 '22

hey kid watch where you goin huh alright fuck you den

2

u/Registered_User666 Aug 11 '22

Part of the higher cost of buying an Audi is the safety features like stronger brakes.

2

u/Jtiago44 Aug 11 '22

Found On Road Dead

2

u/MrJeffersonHEEHEE Aug 11 '22

Is this real?

1

u/bemeros Aug 12 '22

No, not even close.

2

u/WrapPast2996 Aug 11 '22

They should probably test a Ford with the same safety equipment not one without it. Audi is required to put that equipment on vehicles in most countries they sell vehicles in. Ford is not required to put that equipment on vehicles in the country they sell the most vehicles in. Great way to promote a safe German vehicle that will spend more time and money in the shop than on the road though. Deception

2

u/LegendaryHo Aug 11 '22

Ford really be acting like a Tesla

2

u/Crafty_Huckleberry33 Aug 11 '22

So Tesla performs like a Ford in this test

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '22

Every one of these tests, you can show different auto makers failing on different days under different conditions. All of them are improving.

Auto-drive and stop is still safer than humans. Our egos don't like to hear this, but the numbers show it.

2

u/Gimpthulhu Aug 11 '22

So if you're planning to drive though a riot, don't get the Audi. Lesson learned.

2

u/knoWurHistory91 Aug 11 '22

Audi propaganda 🤣

2

u/jshxvii Aug 11 '22

The Ford look like it sped up some more instead of hitting the breaks

1

u/SqeeSqee Aug 11 '22

it looks like the audi is the one that stops, but I can't see the second.

1

u/EccentricNarwhal Aug 11 '22

Its a ford. Not unexpected

3

u/Nerd_Man420 Aug 11 '22

As a previous ford owner. Was not surprised

1

1

Don't worry, if it were a real kid, I'm sure it would have stopped.

1

u/kayfee013 Aug 11 '22

I don’t believe this, you can change the settings on the ford to make it brake later and softer. On the max settings, if a car changes lanes to yours with two car lengths in front of you, it’ll slam on the brake. Source, my whiplash from working in a dealership.

this test doesn't account for the age difference between ford and audi drivers.
the audi should have been halfway in the oncoming lane going 10mph looking for a restaurant to eat brunch at.
