Wait, it's round?

u/1987InfamousQ7891 Aug 11 '22

My dad would say this is fake 😂 I can’t convince him otherwise! And it drives me fucking nuts.

15

u/RedSukura Aug 11 '22

Some people think the earth is completely hallow, which is just fucking insane

13

u/Buzz1ight Aug 11 '22

Wait.. You mean Brendan Fraser's 2008 masterpiece "Journey to the centre of the earth" was not a documentary? /s

2

u/Teabub Aug 11 '22

No Buzz, get your sleep please

1

u/SandWitch83 Aug 12 '22

its not hollow its cavernous

1

u/SuperDuperUser9 Aug 12 '22

What’s hallow?

1

u/whiteguyinchina411 Aug 12 '22

Uhhhh…it is! That’s where King Kong is from!

1

u/whosamawatchafuk Aug 12 '22

I can believe the earth is hollow before I can believe it's flat. Definitely not saying it is but at least caves exist and people can literally fly a straight line and end up back at the starting point

0

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '22

I've never heard that theory, do people really believe the earth to be a completely holy and sacred object? I've heard of the hollow earth theory though

I feel for you. I would ask him if any of his flat earthers have a working model, one that can predict ANYTHING. How about something as simple as a solar eclipse? Using the globe model, maths, and orbital mechanics, science has determined the time, coverage, and path, of all of the solar eclipses over the next ten years. The next three you can tell him about:

  • Oct 25, 2022, partial, from Iceland to India (across Europe and West Asia)
  • Apr 20, 2023, total, southern Indian Ocean to mid-Pacific (crosses Australia)
  • Oct 14, 2023, annular, from west North America down to east Brazil

You'll notice the last one predicts an annular eclipse. If you don't know, annular is when the moon is further in its orbit so it doesn't completely cover the sun, leaving the Sun visible around the outer edges.

Unless your dad lives in Africa or eastern Asia, he's got a chance to see a solar eclipse with his own eyes on those exact dates within the next 14 months. Ask him if his methods can predict that or anything else.

He’s a witch! Burn him!

1

u/1987InfamousQ7891 Aug 11 '22

He would say it’s all made up honestly. That we were lied to. I just don’t understand the logic is a flat earth. How would that change anything, and it’s not like it’s any more beneficial to the way we go about life.

As far as eclipse’s go, he would probably say something about the firmament 😂 he thinks we’re unable to go to space because we’re in a dome like structure, and that there is more land beyond the firmament.

I ask where he learned this stuff and he send me YouTube links… need I say more 😝

One word: gravity

More words: Gravity will crush everything to an approximate sphere.

There it is, flat earth disproved.

3

u/askmeifimacop Aug 11 '22

Always has been

1

u/TheConspicuousGuy Aug 11 '22

What do you mean it's round!?!? There is no curvature!

0

u/dancing-asparagus Aug 11 '22

They say it's not spherical, they agree with its roundness. So according to them, this is just the edge of the disc. 😂

0

u/cybercuzco Aug 11 '22

Pi r round

14

u/dancing-asparagus Aug 11 '22

"That's a shitty window blind for a first clas... wait, whoa!" 😂😂

13

u/Funbucket_537 Aug 11 '22

The CGI is starting to get realistic.

1

u/StraightFroggin Aug 11 '22

Its the fisheye window that makes it looking like a globe. Pull any video of amateur launched rocket with a camera strapped to it and see yourself. Flat as a pancake baby!

3

u/AcEPereZ1 Aug 11 '22

You forgot the /s

1

u/StraightFroggin Aug 11 '22

2

u/volanger Aug 12 '22

Shit. Got on the wrong flight

2

u/Motion_Ocean_48 Aug 12 '22

The real unexpected part is seeing that the earth is actually round lol.

1

u/whosamawatchafuk Aug 12 '22

Looks flat to me /Major S
